The Town of Babylon Democratic Committee has announced their support of Supervising Judge Richard Horowitz for the First District Court of Suffolk County. Horowitz was recently appointed Supervising Judge by the Chief Administrative Judge of New York State and has served in the District Court of Suffolk County since 2007. As Supervising Judge, Richard Horowitz oversees the daily operations of six court houses and twenty four judges throughout Suffolk County.

“Judge Horowitz brings an extensive resume of well-rounded judicial experience to the Suffolk County District Court and has treated every case that has come before him fairly and thoughtfully. I hope that you'll join me in supporting Supervising Judge Horowitz for District Court,” said Committee Chairman Robert Stricoff.

In addition to serving as Supervising Judge and District Court Judge, Horowitz also currently serves as Acting County Court Judge of Suffolk County, President of the Suffolk County District Court's Board of Judges and President Judge of the Drug Treatment Court, the Mental Health Court and the Human Trafficking Intervention Court. Judge Horowitz is also Special Professor of Law at Hofstra University School of Law and co-chair of the Neuroscience and the Law Committee of the Suffolk County Bar Association.

In 2013, Judge Horowitz was a recipient of the Long Island Business News' “Around 50” award, given to influential Long Islanders. Supervising Judge Horowitz also received the George M. Estabrook Distinguished Alumni Award from Hofstra University.

Richard Horowitz currently lives in Smithtown with his wife Rachel, son Jake and rescued dog Charlie.
